National team’s Indonesia trip cancelled over vaccine complication

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has cancelled the national football team’s trip to Indonesia later this month over the vaccine complication, BFF vice-president and national team committee’s chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP, informed it through a video message today (Thursday).

Bangladesh national football team are scheduled to play two FIFA friendly matches against Indonesia in Bali on January 24 and 27 in the January window under the guidance of new Spanish coach Javier Cabrera, who is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Saturday (Jan 15).

Nabil said: “We’ve been earlier informed from Indonesia that all our  players and team management should have double coronavirus vaccine in order  to enter their country, but at this moment 15 players of the team have  received the double dose and seven players took single dose while the other  six have not been vaccinated yet.”

So, at this stage, it’s not possible for us to go the tour due to  vaccination problem, he added.

Nabil, however, hoped to have a list of 40-50 players for the national  team and the U-23 team before the next FIFA window in March and able to take the all the players under  vaccination.
