Al Ramtha end 39-year wait for Jordan league title

Al Ramtha were crowned Jordanian Pro League champions for the third time in their history after a 1-1 draw with Al Jazeera in the final round of matches on Thursday.

Al Ramtha finished level on points with Al Wehdat – on 47 -but claimed the title on a superior head-to-head with the 2020 champions.
Al Ramtha, who defeated Al Wehdat twice in the league this season, had previously won the title back-to-back in 1981 and 1982.
After a goalless first half, Hamza Al Saifi gave Al Jazira the lead in the 52nd minute, only Mohammad Abu Zrayq to draw Al Ramtha level with a spotkick five minutes later.
Al Wehdat, meanwhile, defeated Shabab Al Aqaba 5-0 in their final match.
Al Wehdat opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Anas Al Awadat with Abdulaziz N’Diaye doubling their advantage four minutes before the break.  Al Awadat scored his second just before the end of the second half.
N’Diaye scored the fourth seven minutes into the second period with Lebanon international forward Soony Saad sealing the big win with 13 minutes left on the clock.
