Bashundhara Kings’ winning start in league

The defending champion Bashundhara Kings had began the 2021 Bangladesh Premier League in a good way beating Uttar Baridhara by 2-0 margin on Wednesday.

The opening match at Bangabandhu National Stadium on the day witnessed a goal of Bashundhara’s local booter M Ibrahim which was the first goal any local booter of the team scored this season. Recently the team became unbeaten champion of Federation Cup football and there all the scorers of Bashundhara were foreigners.

After the season opening Federation Cup, riding on two goals of striker Raúl Oscar Becerra and midfielder M Ibrahim in the opening match of the league, the Bashundhara team now had a good start in the league as well.
In the match, Argentine-born Chilean striker Raúl netted the league’s first goal just before the short whistle. After the breather, Ibrahim double the lead hitting the net in the 55th minute of the match. A question was raised regarding the goal of Ibrahim as many claimed that the scorer was in offside.

But the defending champions certainly failed to satisfy their fans in the match. The opponents Uttar Baridhara boys were more impressive with their foreign booters shining throughout the match. If the Baridhara boys had not consume the first goal due to their custodian’s mistake, who knows what the result would be.

Now, Dhaka Abahani will face Bangladesh Police Football Club in the league’s second match on Thursday at 4:00 Pm at the same venue.
