Bashundhara Kings maintain winning run in BPL

Defending champions Bashundhara Kings continued their winning run in the TVS Bangladesh Premier League Football when they beat ten men Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by 2-0 goals held today (Saturday) at Bashundhara Sports Complex in the city.

With the day’s win, the star-studded side Kings maintained their top slot in the table with 18 points from seven matches while the black and white Motijheel outfit Mohammedan remained at their previous credit of nine points
playing the same number of matches.

In the day’s match, forward Sumon Reza and Brazilian striker Robson scored one goal each for the winning side.

Kings had to wait a little time to take the lead when Sumon Reza put the first blood scoring the first goal for Kings early in the 11th minute while Robson doubled the margin scoring the second goal for Kings in t he 19th minute of the match.

Just after the breather, Mohammedan were reduced to ten men by the referee as Anik Hossain was given red card following his double yellow cards. The black and white outfit, who are struggling to improve their position in the points table, however tried heart and soul to reduced the margin, but they failed to convert any in the remaining proceeding.

Bashundhara Kings clearly dominated the entire proceeding and notched their deserving victory while Mohammedan were off-colored on the day. Bashundhar Kings will play their next match against Chittagong Abahani
Limited scheduled to be held at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla on Friday (March 11) while Mohammedan SC will meet Uttar Baridhara Club on the following day (March 12) at the same venue.

Bashundhara Kings earlier lost to Swadhinata Krira Sangha by 1-2 goals in their league opening match, beat Uttar Baridhara Club by a solitary goal in their second match, edged past Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra
by a lone goal in their third match, blanked Bangladesh Police Football Club by 3-0 goals in their fourth match, beat Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 3-2 goals in their fifth match and edged past Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by 1-0 goal in their sixth match of the league.

While Mohammedan earlier played to a 1-1 goal draw with Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra in their league opening match, edged past new comers Swadhinata Krira Sangha by a solitary goal in their second match.

The traditional black and white Motijheel outfit again lost valuable points playing to a 1-1 goal draw with Chittagong Abahani Limited in their third match, managed a 2-0 goal win over Saif Sporting Club in their fourth match, suffered a 0-1 goal defeat to their arch-rival Abahani Limited in their fifth match and played to a 1-1 goal draw with Lieuteanant Sheikh Jamal Danmondi Club in their sixth match of the league.
