Bff focuses on targeted grassroots development

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) will further enhance the development of Grassroots football as well as improve the quality of Grassroots coaches by implementing dynamic programmes in the country.

BFF has launched a roadmap to promote Grassroots football in divisions and districts of Bangladesh.
The first programme successfully started on November 18 in the regions of Feni, Madaripur and Nilphamari where approximately 600 boys and 180 girls participated in the football programmes organised by BFF.

With the aim of reaching more children, BFF plans to organise Grassroots activities in all the Bangladesh divisions and focus on promoting the sport in the rural areas of the country.

BFF President Kazi Md. Salahuddin said: “Not every grassroots player may become a national team player, but every national team player started out in Grassroots football.”

In efforts to improve and support the quality of coaches at all levels, the BFF Coach Education Department have also introduced a five-day Grassroots Course which will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to Grassroots coaches.

In total, 200 coaches have benefited in the two courses held in Dhaka in November while more are expected to join the December edition.

BFF General Secretary Md. Abu Nayeem Shohag said: “The Technical Department is working tirelessly in their efforts to meet all our objectives and key targets. I am excited by this new venture as we will now support our young players in the divisions with better and knowledgeable coaches.”

Paul Thomas Smalley, the BFF Technical Director added: “Grassroots Development both for coaches and players is part of our development plan. We have organised both opportunities for coaches at the Grassroots level to undertake Coach Education courses and young players to actively get involved in football through our deliveries from the districts and divisions of Bangladesh. We are excited by the interest and look forward to our successful application for the AFC Grassroots Charter at the Bronze level.”
